Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) AKA ‘Vampire Lift’
The Vampire Lift is a fantastical marketing name for injection of PRP or Platelet rich plasma into the face to improve volume in the cheeks, improve tear trough areas and smile lines. It’s not a true lift like a face lift or a neck lift but another way of improving facial volume in a natural way. The simple truth is that PRP is an effective autologous fluid from the blood that has many great qualities for facial improvement and treatment of hair loss. PRP has been successful in treating orthopedic related problems and injuries along with facial rejuvenation and treating hair loss. That doesn’t mean that this is the holy grail for treating these problems because PRP may not be effective for everyone. However, the way PRP is processed and injected will determine how effective the overall outcome will be. Now, I have a centrifuging system that I like very much and am now offering this treatment for facial rejuvenation and hair loss.
The way to process the PRP is to draw 30 ml. or more of blood. An anticoagulant is added to prevent the blood from clotting as the blood is drawn from your arm. The blood is then concentrated down in a centrifuge, separating the plasma from the blood. The platelet rich plasma is then isolated from this plasma.
The benefits of PRP are plenty. It is an autologous fluid, meaning that this is naturally accepted by your body because it is processed from your blood. There is no need to use a synthetic biologic filler such as Juvederm or Restylane, which could lead to botched results in the tear trough and cheeks. The use of a blunt micro-cannula to inject PRP minimizes risk of bruising or injecting into a vital blood vessel. It can help rejuvenate the skin and fill in areas that are difficult to fill such as the tear trough. It stops hair loss and helps rejuvenate hair growth. It can be combined with other fillers such as Scupltra to improve overall outcome.
