Botched Facial Fillers in New York City
What may seem like a relatively simple idea–injecting a filler in your face–is in fact very difficult to do well. You may look at the lines and bags under your eyes and think that an injection of hyaluronic acid such as Restylane and Juvederm in the tear trough would solve the problem. You may look at your deepening laugh lines and feel the same way. However, the anatomy of the face and the way it changes with age is much more complicated. Without a holistic and detailed knowledge and understanding of your face, the chances of you having a healthier, more youthful face from fillers without looking swollen or a bit strange are not very good in the long run. The other possibility is that you see an improvement you like, but the results do not last for more than a few months. Then, either you feel like you’ve wasted your time and money or need more. This is where it gets riskier. You will always be able to find a doctor who will do what you want and inject more.
Fillers like hyaluronic acid (Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma, Perlane) for the face are important for improving the problems of the aging face. Restylane SILK, a thinner hyaluronic acid, is a great filler to augment the lips. However, if too much is used, then you may have a worse problem than your aging features. Think: duckie lips or swollen faces. Hyaluronic acid filler is very similar to salt for food. If you are eating stew and it tastes bland, adding the right amount of salt could bring out all of the wonderful flavors of the rich ingredients in the stew. What happens, however, if you add too much salt? You will not be able to enjoy eating any of it!
I have seen plenty of women (and men) with bad outcomes from facial fillers. Usually, it’s too much of the hyaluronic acid injected in the tear troughs and the cheeks, sometimes the lower face. Unfortunately, it is often difficult to improve the problems created by having too much hyaluronic acid fillers injected in the face.
However, an amazing filler to improve volume in your cheeks and face that I have been using for more than 10 years is Sculptra. Sculptra works very differently than the hyaluronic acid fillers. Sculptra is a degradable polymer that stimulates your body to make collagen. The main reason very few doctors recommend and offer this product is that very few doctors understand how Sculptra works. Because of inadequate experience with using Sculptra, 95% or more of cosmetic doctors will recommend only Juvederm or Restylane or Voluma and not Sculptra.
The bottom line is to get educated so that you can choose your doctor well and understand all options. The reality is that these products can be extremely beneficial or hurtful. It all depends on how well these products are being used. For botched Botox treatment, click here.
